Disney is delighted to be working closely with a wide group of partners to help us all remember the reef.
Greenfleet is an environmental not-for-profit organisation which connects people with real, on the ground climate action. They are experts in restoring ecosystems across Australia and New Zealand. Greenfleet’s revegetation projects deliver many environmental benefits: their native forests capture carbon from the atmosphere, provide vital habitat to native wildlife, conserve biodiversity, prevent soil erosion and help filter water.
As part of Remember the Reef, Greenfleet plants trees and restores mangroves in the Great Barrier Reef region. The restoration and protection of forests in catchments of the Great Barrier Reef and of mangroves along coastal wetlands improve local water quality, protect wildlife diversity and help tackle climate change. This has a domino effect, in that the revegetation work in these areas is a long-term, key element in protecting the reef we all love and cherish.
The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (GBRMPA) is responsible for ensuring the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park - one of the world's greatest natural treasures - is protected for the future. They recognise that protecting the Great Barrier Reef requires local, national and international effort - and recognise they simply can’t do it alone. One of the ways in which the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority works to ensure the Reef is well cared for, is by providing education and community awareness programs. They do this to inform visitors and people from around the world about the Great Barrier Reef, its protection and how they can help look after it.
The Reef HQ Great Barrier Reef Aquarium is the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority's National Education Centre for the Great Barrier Reef; it is the world’s largest living coral reef aquarium.
The SEA LIFE Trust ANZ is a non-profit Registered Environmental Organisation working locally to drive positive behaviour change to conserve aquatic habitats and protect the amazing wildlife that lives within them. Through innovative conservation campaigns, scientific research and inspiring education they champion plastic-free oceans, sustainable fishing, effective Marine Protected Areas and put an end to over-exploitation of marine life. Their vision is a world where vital marine habitats and wildlife are respected and conserved, where fish stocks are abundant and plastic pollution is extinct. All donations made to the SEA LIFE Trust during June and July will go towards Remember the Reef conservation plantings.
The Great Barrier Reef foundation believes that everyone can make a difference. By helping keep the reef safe from threats, the Foundation finds new ways to defeat the challenges facing Australia's greatest natural wonder. They do this by raising funds to invest in many different projects that will help the Great Barrier Reef. They are working with scientists and reef experts to find out the best ways to protect and restore this special place to ensure a brighter future for the reef and its animals.
